Ideas for Articles:
- Grants received & how teachers use the $ for our students
- Author Visits Coordinated by teachers
- Special Character Counts Events or Projects organized by teachers
- Family Math Day – teachers who are presenting, coordinating, etc.
- Community Service organized by teachers
- Special Events organized by teachers after school

Congratulations to Jim Huey
Jim Huey, a 6th grade math teacher at BMS, will be recognized by Senator Caesar Trunzo in celebration of National Teacher Day. He is being honored on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 6pm. Tony Campo Raffle

Tony Campo, a long time employee of SCCSD is battling cancer. In order to help Tony and his family with the mounting bills associated with travel expenses and payments not covered by insurance, we will be sponsoring a raffle.
Tickets are $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. Please see your building rep to purchase the “Winning Tickets”.

- The High School Dance Team was name 2008 Long Island Champions in the Lyrical Division. They also placed 12th in the Large Varsity Hip Hop Division at the Nationals this year in a category of over 35 teams from across the nation.

South Country's 2nd Annual Author Illustrator Night
Frank P. Long Teachers, Aimee Volk and Susan Gittler, wrote grant through the South Country Education Foundation and South Country Teacher Center to receive funding for South Country’s 2nd Annual Author-Illustrator Night. The purpose of having the writers and illustrators come into the South Country Central School District is to allow the community, students, parents and staff members to meet successful local artists of children’s books as positive academic role models and to get quality literature into the hands of the children.
So, come meet over 20 different authors and illustrators from across Long Island at Frank P. Long Intermediate School on Thursday, May 8th from 7-8:30 pm. Please be on the look out for the registration forms and posters within your schools.

Exciting High School Jazz Band Info!
The Bellport High School Jazz Band has again been invited to peform at the Patchogue Theatre as part of their "Top High School Jazz Bands" showcase on Sat. April 12, 7:00 pm.. The guest artist will be saxophonist Shenole Latimer who will perform one number with each of the bands. Mr. Latimer will also run a jazz clinic at the theatre for all the students that afternoon before the concert. There are 4 other schools represented so tickets are sure to sell quickly. Tickets are $9 for children and $13 for adults and can be obtained by contacting the Patchogue Theater box office at 631-207-1313 or visit www.patchoguetheatre.com. Please come and show your support for all our students. Hope to see you there!
